The worlds best network device manufacturer, Cisco Systems, presents their latest VoIP phone, the Cisco Systems Unified CP-7961G-CH1 VoIP Phone. The device is designed in a plain dark grey colour and has dimensions of 20.3 x 15.2 x 26.6 cm (H x D x W). It has a weight of about 1.6kg and is slightly bigger and heavier than the ordinary phones. But it comes with all the extra features that ordinary phones lack, one of which is Internet Telephony using the SCCP protocol for enhanced voice communication.
Its main features are an integrated Ethernet switch and Power over Ethernet (PoE) support. It also comes with all the features of an ordinary telephone, with keypads for dialling, programmable line and feature buttons and voice mail capability. It uses voice codec’s such as G.729a and G.711u for transmitting and receiving speech. The phone comes with two Ethernet 10/100Base-TX network ports.
The built-in monochrome high resolution LCD display acts as a Caller ID and has an adjustable display contrast. The graphics display capability of the unit enables the inclusion of enhanced features like XML (Extensible Mark-up Language) and other varying future features. This Cisco VoIP phone also contains a speakerphone and a 3-way conferencing capability, for your everyday business dealings. It has an integrated headset jack and comfort noise generation and voice activity detection (VAD) programming for smooth communication. The user can set alerts from more than 24 ring tones built into the system.
