Sound enhancements possible in VoIP

Audio plays a very crucial role in VoIP service. If the audio does not work well then none of the functions of VoIP becomes effective. These audio related problems on your windows computer can be tackled easily. It is as easy as it sounds and it can be solved easily and effectively. Guidelines for identifying and trouble shooting are explained in the proceeding paragraphs. These will be of very help and the next time you have any audio related problems you need not have to depend upon a computer expert.

What to do
The very first thing you have to do is to check the headset, speakers and the related wires. If any problem is with these units it can be easily detected. Press the plug firmly in to the ports and see if the proper connection is given in the right one. If the problem is not with the wires then check the volume controls. Just follow this method Start -> Accessories -> Entertainment -> Volume Control, if it is windows XP.

Another factor that is to be considered is to activate the playback option in the properties list. Don’t forget to check each and every box under ‘Show the following volume controls’. Once you click OK you will return to the volume control window. It is here where the volume level can be controlled. The volume sliders should be up to 75-80% and one should deactivate the mute box.

Disturbed by Echo
When compared to the integrated or standalone microphone set ups the headsets produce less of an echo effect. Thus using the headphones is much useful and effective. If echo is the problem, then just bring down the 3D depth slider in the volume control window. The quality of the headphones should be taken care of and well maintained.

Next comes the microphone
In this case also see to it that the plug are well connected and firmly placed in the port. Generally one will see a microphone icon next to the right port and the port will match the colour of the microphone plug. In that case go to the volume control panel and check the mute button. If further you need to check just go to the advanced menu below mute box and go for 20dB boost box. At times it makes your voice terribly loud but at times it is very useful. In order to return to the volume control, close the box.

Next go through options, properties and recording. Click to the recording and a pop menu will appear. Uncheck the mute all box thereby activating the sound. The provided volume sliders should be pushed up 75% and check the select box under Mic.

Arranging the microphone properly and see it is very close to your mouth. In case you want to check the functioning of the microphone just go to Start -> Programs -> Accessories -> Entertainment and click on the Windows Sound Recorder. Press the record icon and start to talk, once you have finished go to stop. You can analyse your sound level and texture when you playback.

After performing all these tests, if you still have the problem then contact a technical team or supplier before it is too late.
