The pros and cons of digital phones and VoIP services

Digital phones have replaced the traditional phones to a considerable extent. It has many advantages over the other phones. Such phones work with VoIP, when expanded becomes voice over internet protocol. They transfer voice data through a packet switched network. It seems just like a conversation using an ordinary phone. You won’t feel much of a difference.

These days, almost anything is possible over internet and people have received VoIP services and digital phones with great enthusiasm. This technology is very reliable and the same features uncertainty.

In comparison with the other ordinary phones, the services of regular VoIP phones are provided at lesser monthly charges or as free. Customers can really benefit out of it as international calls are charged at very cheap rates per minute and also very low monthly charges which may cost you very less. These advantages of digital phones outweigh the other regular and mobile phones, which puts the companies of regular/cellular in real trouble. Apart form VoIP services, there are also many other additional benefits of using such digital phones or IP phones, unless you opt for analogue phone adaptor. They include back up numbers, caller ID, and silent recording and telemarketing blocks.

However, unfortunately, people are not completely ready to disconnect their regular phones, as digital phones have certain cons too. VoIP providers don’t price each and every location fairly, and not all locations across the world are available. Availability of certain local area codes may not be possible with all providers of VoIP. If you don’t have a back up battery or a universal power supply, then you will have to give up your standard phones as the power supply for broadband connection is electronic. Digital phones are also encountering complications with 911 dialling.

At times, with the connection, you might be unable to dial up the emergency number, as the network users cannot be easily tracked by the IP service providers. Artificial 911 connections have been developed by many leading VoIP companies to resolve the problem by connecting you to local emergency personnel. However, it is a big disadvantage that they couldn’t develop a reliable 911 connection. In Michigan, regarding this connection of 911, a company named Vonage, which is one of the leading digital phones company was fined very recently.

You can get IP phones that are affordably priced. If you are looking for highly advanced phones with modest features, whether for personal or business purposes, then it can cost you a bit more.

If you have an internet connection, then it is ideal to go for digital phones, as they cost you less compared to the regular phones. The traditional phones charge you more with company taxes, long distance calling and the like. On the other hand in the case of digital phones, you have to pay very low monthly income, which is always less than the charges of other ordinary telephone companies.

If you are planning to go for digital phones, then you have to check whether they are locally available, as all the local areas worldwide are still not capable of handling such advanced technologies.
